Because average annual snowfall accumulations in mountainous regions exceed the loading capacities of what typical span tables take into consideration under Part 9 of the BC Building Code, Resort Municipal authorities require that homes constructed in snow country be reviewed by a Structural Engineer.

Scope of Work:
  • A preliminary review of the proposed design drawings.
  • A preliminary inspection of the site to examine soil conditions.
  • The preparation of a quote that will include the scope of work and a schedule of fees.
  • A preliminary mark-up of the structure with suggested beam sizes and layout to be reviewed by the Client, Architect & Builder.
  • A final Engineering mark-up that includes structural notes, details and schedules as required by Municipal authorities as part of the Building Permit application process.
  • Ongoing site visits during the building pad preparation, pouring of concrete and erection of framing sections for the project.

Schedule of Fees:

  • Engineering $145/hr
  • Drafting $70/hr
  • Printing - at cost
